Overview

ECA (Electro-Chemical Activation)

Electro-Chemical Activation (ECA) is the generation of activated solutions by passing a dilute NaCl solution through a Flow-through Electrolytic Membrane (FEM), segregating the ions formed and producing two oppositely charged solutions with altered physical and chemical properties. Electro-Chemical Activation changes the state of the salt solution from a stable to a metastable state. The positively charged anolyte solution, known as Ecasol™, has a redox value in excess of 600mV, is pH neutral and consists of a mixture of unstable mixed oxidants (mainly hypochlorous acid) in a physically excited state that is capable of penetrating biofilms and is highly microbiocidal. The negatively charged catholyte solution, known as Aversol™ has detergent properties, a pH as high as 13.5, a redox value of -600mV and consists predominantly of sodium hydroxide in an excited state. These active ion species are short lived with a shelf-life of usually less than 48 hours which is why Trustwater™ solutions are produced on-site, on-demand.

Not all Catholytes and Anolytes are the same:

Trustwater™ Catholyte, Aversol™ is a highly effective and convenient detergent used in the Food & Beverage Market to replace commonly used chemical detergents.

Trustwater™ Anolyte, Ecasol™ is a pH neutral solution that effectively destroys all known microbes.

Ecasol™ is many times more effective than advanced oxidant techniques such as chlorine dioxide, hydrogen peroxide and ozone and is up to 100 times more effective than sodium hypochlorite.

Trustwater™ solutions are:

  • Sustainable
  • Convenient
  • Consistent
  • Generated On-Demand.

Trustwater™ Unique Technological Features

  • Trustwater™ is the original ECA technology. Its more recent FEM-3 and AQ technologies are the most advanced ECA technologies on the market.
  • The Electro-mechanical design of Trustwater™ patented products ensures only Trustwater™ solutions offer low chlorides and consistency in pH and ppm output regardless of local water chemistry.
  • Trustwater™ devices can be programmed to produce anolyte with an oxidant concentration of up to 2000ppm, reducing considerably the anolyte storage requirements.
  • Similarly the higher pH of Aversol™ allows for minimum storage requirements.
  • Ecasol™ has been proven to be over 100 times more effective than the same concentration of hypochlorite.
  • All Trustwater™ systems are manufactured to the highest standard and are accredited to TuV “T Mark” international standard.
  • Trustwater™’s technical and integration capabilities include hardware engineering, software engineering, electrical control and SCADA integration, microbiology, electrochemistry and applications engineering.
  • Trustwater™ technology is manufactured in Ireland, with on-site support available within mainland Europe, support is available from our technology support centre 24/7/365
  • Trustwater™ ECA devices have the highest salt conversion of any ECA technology on the market. Trustwater™ systems are the most efficient salt conversion ECA system available on the market.
  • The unconverted salt within competing systems remains as chloride in the anolyte and catholyte streams. This contributes greatly to materials corrosion over time.
